Beth A. Purdy, M.D.

Dr. Purdy is an expert in orthopedic surgery, specifically upper extremity surgery.

She received her medical degree in 1991 from the University of Arizona where she graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, Medical Honor Society. She received a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the School of Music at Arizona State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

She completed her residency in orthopedic surgery form Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio – the first woman to accomplish this. This was followed by a hand surgery fellowship here in Phoenix, which was then followed by further specialized training in complex elbow problems at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

 


She is Board Certified in orthopedic surgery and has received the Certificate of Additional Qualification in Hand Surgery. She has presented on various topics in hand surgery and is active on faculty for teaching orthopedic residents about the treatment of congenital hand abnormalities. Dr. Purdy is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Medical Association and the Maricopa Medical Society. She has lived her in Phoenix, Arizona since age 10.
